45 Pc. Sliding Bit Case
For this multidisciplinary project I worked on a team of six which included industrial designers, graphic designers, and a packaging scientist. We had frequent meetings with Milwaukee Tool to keep them informed and to receive feedback throughout our design process. Using different skillsets and strong teamwork we were able to create an innovative new case and sensible packaging for their 45 piece bit-set.

Quick Sketches
I prefer to start with quick and dirty sketches and move into prototyping and CAD relatively quickly. I use all these methods simultaneously to communicate information throughout projects. Getting ideas on the page fast is more important than small details in the beginning. In the image below the “calculator style bit holder” sketch was the catalyst for our successful project.

3D Printed Working Model
My CAD contributions for this project included the base shell, cover, and secondary case. I focused on the shells and outer appearance while a fellow designer created the inside shelving. We worked in tandem to create a final product that was ready for print. The smaller case can be slotted onto the Milwaukee “M.”
